LACOSTE beat-up athletic track-jacket lrg Crocodile tennis size 5 embroidery This is a previously-owned, adult-large (L / size 5), dark-blue, zipper-down track-jacket with an embroidered Lacoste crocodile logo on the front and “Lacoste” embroidered across the back. It measures approximately 20½ inches (from underarm seam to underarm seam), about 18 inches from back collar to bottom, and is in fair condition, as it shows some marks, some pilling, and a few snags – see pictures (Lacoste brand, 100% cotton). René Lacoste, tennis star, joined with a French garment maker to manufacture tennis shirts. In 1933, the famous Crocodile shirt was born. Lacoste signed an agreement with the David Crystal Company in 1952 to import, and in 1966, to make Lacoste shirts in the United States. David Crystal was also the owner of Izod and Haymaker, and so the crocodile is seen on garments with quite a few different labels. These shirts and dresses were very fashionable in the middle 1960s and in the early 1980s, and came to typify the “preppy” look. The relationship between Izod and Lacoste came to an end in 1992, and today La Chemise Lacoste is the maker and licenser of all Lacoste products.
