MOORER Verona is the finest outerwear maker in the world. People often talk about Kiton being hand-made and remarkable, but as Simon Crompton reported, Kiton's "artisans" use LOTS of machines (like - sewing machines). MOORER uses machines, too. But their genius lies in their cutting edge fabrications, treatments, high-count Siberian Goose Down, wind-proofing, and rip-proofing. This coat is made of the world's finest 100% bi-stretch cashmere. THE CASHMERE IN THIS COAT IS EVERY INCH AS SOFT AS VICUNA (AND THE COLOR OF VICUNA - BUT IT'S 100% CASHMERE). TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST, THERE IS PROBABLY THREE GRAND ($3,000.00) WORTH OF CASHMERE FABRIC ALONE. LIKE: JUST THE FABRIC IS WORTH ABOUT 3 GRAND. THERE'S CASHMERE EVERYWHERE: RACKS AND STACKS OF IT IN THIS COAT: THE INSIDE OF THE POCKETS ARE LINED WITH CASHMERE. THE HOOD IS CASHMERE. THERE IS DOUBLE-FACE CASHMERE ON CERTAIN PARTS OF IT. IT'S THE SOFTEST AND NICEST STUFF I'VE SEEN IN 30 YEARS OF SELLING COATS. It's one of the warmest coats in the world: The Baldo-IL. Moorer doesn't make it anymore. The closest thing I can find on the Moorer website is the "Aristotele-Edc" --- which is also a 100% cashmere parka with the racoon hood. That model sells for $15,950.00 USD on their website. This Baldo-IL 100% cashmere with racoon hood was sold at Barneys. This one is new-old-stock. It has the Barneys tag inside the garment and is unworn, unused, and fresh as the day it rolled off the printing press. It is a LEVEL D warmth --- unless you live in Siberia, you don't need warmer. It is the rare sized 38 (US) or 48 (IT). And it fits well for someone who is a size 40/50 (as Moorer tends to run a tiny bit roomy). But the measurements are here: Shoulder - 18.5" / Chest - 46" / Length - 34" / Sleeve - 25" What was the original retail of THIS particular 100% cashmere Baldo with Racoon fur? I don't know. I can just tell you that its more-or-less equivalent now sells for $16,000.00 USD, and Moorer will NEVER AGAIN make "The Baldo." How do I know? I spent an hour on the phone with a rep from Moorer to talk about the coat, to talk about what's now available from this great Italian company, and the like. The same company that makes the hardware for Moorer makes the interior hardware for Lamborghini and Ferrari. The same executives that used to make the finest RTW suits (d'Avenza) in the world now helps run Moorer. Here's - perhaps - the greatest piece of outerwear ever made for (perhaps) a TINY FRACTION of the original retail price. I make no specific claim about the actual retail price of this model as that information is simply NOT available. Inflation has caused CRAZY cost increases. The fact that Moorer is selling a comparable coat for 16K should tell you something. That you can no longer buy this model from Moorer should tell you something. All I can say is: if you want this quality coat directly from Moorer - you're paying 16K. End of story. All sales final. Sold as is. No returns or exchanges.
