The Gen 3 Level 3 is part of the Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS).
The level 3 is a mid-weight outer layer. It is designed to be worn over a uniform in (14F to 68F) cold conditions to add thermal protection. It features high loft and breathable fabric that is designed to dry quickly. It has two inside pockets, two outside hand warming pockets, loop side velcro to accept name and rank tape, and side stretch panels for comfort. The elbows and shoulders are reinforced to reduce wear. It is lower volume then previous generations to reduce excess weight.
