I enjoy fun vintage clothes but I am not an expert on them. This was part of an estate lot that I purchased and was tagged as "antique German jacket". It looks Edwardian in style to me and is very well made. The wool lining has some moth bites and there are some rub marks (pulled fabric) around the arm bend in the right sleeve, but neither are noticeable when worn. The exterior shell feels like silk. The condition of this jacket is so good to make me think that this was possibly made later but I'm truly not sure. It's totally wearable and the fabric is not brittle. There is a combination of hand sewing and machine work in this piece. The color shifts between deep maroon ruby and reddish purple. It's truly gorgeous and if it fit me I would keep it to wear on special rare occasions.
