The half-layer is a mesh grid printed on the interior that protects the membrane from abrasion and wear. Though light in weight, every seam in the Swiftwater is sealed to provide heavy-duty protection from the wettest of weather. During active, high-exertion use, breathability is just as important as waterproofness, since wet is wet, regardless of where the moisture comes from. The Swiftwater’s waterproof membrane is full of microscopic pores that allow vapors and heat to escape, yet is impenetrable to rain and snow.
